Move-N-Learns

Move-N-Learns provide participants with an opportunity to get some physical activity while learning something new. They typically consist of a  free, guided tour of a building or location on KU's beautiful campus or an activity based event. All Jayhawk faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

Please note: The Kansas State Employees Health Care Commission voted in 2022 to no longer award HealthQuest credits for agency-specific activities beginning in 2023.

Individuals seeking reasonable accommodations can contact Faculty and Staff Wellness at wellness@ku.edu.

Registration is required prior to an event.

Employee Tour of the KU Power Plant (Shop 405)

Wednesday, July 16, 12:10-12:50pm

Location: 1505 Sunflower Rd.

The Power Plant is located directly South and down the hill from Stauffer-Flint Hall / Watson Library

KU’s Power Plant produces 175psi steam @ 350 F for distribution via approximately 8 miles of piping to 50 buildings across campus for domestic hot water, sterilization, space temperature & humidity control. During winter months the plant converts upwards of 200,000 gallons of water into steam and burns in excess of 1 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to keep campus buildings functioning and comfortable.  Join us as Robert Mills, who supervises this KU Employee Team of the Year, leads a tour of this critical space.  Participants will meet at the loading dock on the south side of the building

***Unfortunately, this location is not wheelchair accessible
