Crops to Campus

Would you like the convenience of picking up a bag of fresh local produce directly from a local farmer on campus every week?

Crops to Campus is a partnership between the University of Kanas and the Rolling Prairie Farm Alliance to provide a fresh produce subscription service to the Lawrence KU community. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to sign up for the 2024 growing season.

CSAs, or community-supported agriculture programs, provide weekly produce deliveries for individuals and families, who in turn support and strengthen the local farms growing the produce through the purchase of a share, or subscription.  The Rolling Prairie Farm Alliance CSA program is composed of nine local farms that follow natural, ecologically sustainable, organic practices for growing food.

Survey results from a former CSA partnership at KU in 2015 showed overwhelming satisfaction with the program.  The two largest motivators for participating were to support local farms and to eat healthier. 62 percent of respondents credited the program with their household eating more fresh produce than usual, and 85 percent said they ate more local foods.

How do I sign up?

Registration will be handled directly with Rolling Prairie Farm Alliance. While KU is partnering to offer a convenient on-campus pick-up location, all registration, payment, and business questions go through the Registration & Payment link below.

What do I get?

A subscriber’s weekly share consists of an assortment of 6-8 seasonal produce items, freshly cleaned and bunched. When picking up the share, you may be asked to make a choice between various items, like zucchini and cucumbers, for example. For a full list of typical seasonal crops and other offerings visit: What is in the bags?

How much does it cost?

After a one-time administrative fee of $25, the cost for a subscription is $25/week. Payments are due the first week of the month. You can register at any time. For other Frequently Asked Questions visit: How It Works.

When and where do I pick up the share?

Every Thursday from 4:00-6:00pm, from May 2 – October 31, weekly shares can be picked up in the back drive-through of Price Computing Center located at 1001 Sunnyside Avenue on the KU campus.
